Your employees may be eligible for state unemployment insurance (UI) benefits or federal disaster unemployment assistance (DUA) benefits if they are unemployed for any period of time as a direct result of Hurricane Matthew. DEW may request information from you in order to properly evaluate a claim for UI or DUA benefits. Please respond to such requests timely and thoroughly so DEW can ensure that benefits are promptly paid only to those claimants eligible to receive them.
A contributory employer’s tax rate will not be affected by benefits an employee receives while unemployed as a direct result of Hurricane Matthew.
